Hi all
I am a reviewer of "International journal of applied cryptography". Recently, i have received a paper related to breaking a protocol in IOT. The authors of the paper have claimed that "We have successfully break RSA-640 using cado-nfs 2-3-0 on 50 intel core i7 6700-K CPUs ,...., inter-node communication is achieved with OpenMPI using 1Gb interconnect, in 10 days". They have used one sequence of 64 bit vector for Block Wiedemann algorithm. Unfortunately, i'm not aware of the power of cado-nfs, but after reading "https://eprint.iacr.org/2012/369.pdf" and "http://homepages.loria.fr/PZimmermann/papers/rsa220.pdf", it seems their claim is exaggerated. I think they need to more powerful CPUs for sieving step and inter-connection with larger bandwidth for linear algebra step. Can anyone help me?
