Hi Matthieu,
A skin surface is a surface used to model molecules. It is defined by a
set of balls (the atoms of the molecule) and a parameter that determines
the size of the smooth patches that glue the spheres together. In the
next CGAL-release there will be a package that, given the balls and the
parameter, constructs a triangular mesh of the skin surface.
