Hello Everyone,

We have an opening(s) for a research associate for our STAPL
project. Briefly, STAPL is a parallel version of the
C++ STL and can be used as a base for domain specific
parallel libraries (e.g., a parallel version of CGAL could
be built on top of STAPL.) The project is led by Lawrence
Rauchwerger and me, and Bjarne Stroustrup is also involved.

We currently have one postdoc on the project and have openings
for 1-2 more PhD level level people for multi-year positions.
Ideally we'd like them to know both C++ and parallel programming,
but that is hard and so we are open to people that may not
have parallel programming experience but are experts with C++
libraries. The pay is competitive and the position has full
benefits.

In the following, I have a brief blurb about STAPL and then
an ad about the position(s), including application information.

I'll be happy to answer any questions about STAPL or the
positions. Also, please forward this message to anyone you
think may be interested.

-Nancy

About STAPL
----------
STAPL (the Standard Template Adaptive Parallel Library) is a
framework for parallel C++ code development. Its core is a
library of standard C++ components with interfaces similar to
the (sequential) C++ STL. STAPL's containers (pContainers)
are distributed across the memory hierarchy which can be
shared and/or distributed address spaces. STAPL provides
the programmer a shared object view of the data space, and
programmers do not need to manage communication (e.g., no MPI
or OpenMP calls in user code - this is handled in the STAPL
runtime system).

and advanced run-time systems for small to extreme scale parallel
and distributed architectures. Interaction with faculty and
graduate students, academia and industry and publication in
scientific conferences and journals is strongly encouraged.

Qualifications:
A PhD in Computer Science or a related field. A good knowledge
of C++ and STL is required. Also highly desirable is knowledge of
one or more of the following: parallel and distributed algorithms
and architectures, Unix based operating systems, and Run-Time Systems.
