Hello,

Thank you for developing the cgal package. We are considering using it as part of our Terrest photogrammetric system that we plan to release with a GPL license.

I have a couple of questions regarding the design of the package. I have succesfully compiled it in a Cygwin environment by hacking the install_cgal script to use .dll instead of .so. Which leads me to my questions:

Why didn't you use the gnu configure package to manage the whole configuration, compilation, testing, installation cycle? Are you opposed to developing it with such a framework?

I ask because being a small research team we have to be careful in reducing maintenance time on our software and we prefer packages that can handle the Cygwin environment easily (I wont't go into the historical reasons why we are stuck developing in this environment).

Thank you again for developing this software.
