Thanks for your patience and persistence.
ok. I edited the linux64.mk file to indicate the location of the blas
libraries (/usr/lib64/libblas.a libblas.so libblas_pic.a) - see attachment

I buried the g77 libraries in a subdirectory

I downloaded metis as per your instructions
TAUCS>3.5>taucs_external_source.tgz

I edited the Makefile.in such CC=gcc. However I found no option to allow me
to compile it with gfortran i.e FC or similar? What am I missing here?

When attempting to compile I get an error message see attachment
