I'm new to CGAL and this mailing list, so my apologies if this has
been answered before (I did have a brief but unfruitful search of the
mailing list archives)

I found the task of compiling quite arduous, and I can see from the
mailing list archives that many others before me have had similar
issues. I'd guess it's a large hindrance to wider adoption of the
library.

Is there an open task in an issue tracker that's tracking the addition
of precompiled dlls? (I couldn't find a link to the tracker from the
CGAL website) I'd like to get an idea of what needs to be done, and
as to when it can be expected?

Many thanks,

Iain
