Hi,

This is a general question, does not seem specific to CGAL. Nevertheless, here are some of the points which may help you.

  1. http://sqa.stackexchange.com/questions/3226/how-to-isolate-a-bug
  2. Pick good open source projects. Something like CGAL or BOOST. You will find test codes coming with them. That might give you better perspective.
  3. Participate in Open Source projects.
  4. Look over here as well: http://codereview.stackexchange.com/?as=1
