Sebastien,

Yes, the initial 2D contour was created using only the vertices of the mesh.
The deformed contour is the result of moving around those 2D contour points
by random 2D translation vectors.

I tried the mesh deformation plugin in Polyhedron demo. no matter what I
did, I could not make the mesh look this weird. I even inspected the
plugin's code. It doesn't seem like there's any kind of magic going on... So
I'm totally at a loss :(
