I am writing to discuss a performance discrepancy I have observed when running the sdf_values
function from CGAL on my system. I am currently using Windows 11 with Visual Studio 2017.
While consulting the documentation, I came across a performance benchmark for sdf_values
(referencing the attached image). The benchmarks provided were conducted using CGAL release 4.4 on an Intel i7 3.2 GHz laptop with 8 GB RAM, compiled by Visual C++ 2010 with /O2 optimization. The mentioned runtimes for models with different numbers of triangles were quite impressive.
However, on my system, I have noticed that the execution times for sdf_values
are significantly higher than the ones mentioned in the benchmarks. The discrepancy is substantial enough to raise concerns about whether I might be missing some crucial optimizations or if there's a known issue with the environment I am using.
Could you please provide some insights or suggestions on what might be causing this performance difference? Are there any known issues or optimizations specific to the Win11 + VC2017 combination that I should be aware of?
I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this matter, as achieving optimal performance is crucial for my project.
