Dear colleagues,

The University of Perpignan has received international mobility grants
from the "region Languedoc Roussillon". I am seeking a second year
master student to develop applications in PVS or Coq during her/his
master's thesis in Perpignan. The prospective student must have received
good training in either PVS or Coq and show interest in applications
such as computer arithmetic (specifically fixed and floating point
arithmetic) and probability. Complementary training in the later areas
will be offered to the student should it be necessary.

The master's thesis will follow the work initiated with David Lester
(see link below). A PhD grant will be offered based on the academic
record and on the quality of the master's thesis.

The student should have fulfilled all the requirements to register in a
second year master program in a country from the European Union, the
OECD or an emerging country (as defined by the French foreign office).
He/She will have to register as a second year master's student in the
University of Perpignan. The grant is EUR 400 a month during a semester.
The student may spend one full year in Perpignan or spend one semester
in another university using ECTS.

The student will continue work started with the NIA supported by CNRS
PICS 2533, NASA LaRC and the European Union Mathlogaps Early Stage
Research Training.

Perpignan is conveniently located in the South of France on the
Mediterranean coast close to Southern Catalonia and Barcelona.
Temperatures are mild to high but the wind keeps the climate temperate
and makes the area a nice spot for all kinds of surf sports. The back
country is renowned for hikes and outdoor sports.

The selection of prospective students will be primarily based on
academic excellence.
