I agree with you. Do all applications make sure environment variables 
take precedence over their configuration ? Is that a convention, or is 
it up to every application ?

If we choose to modify the behaviour of StarPU regarding environment 
variables, this should be done before 1.0.0, along with the API changes. 
Maybe for rc3 ?
