You can run OpenCL kernels on an AMD CPU by setting the 
"STARPU_OPENCL_ON_CPUS" environment variable to 1.

We've just bought a few Radeon HD 7970, and StarPU seems to be working 
well with these. The only known issue is that asynchronous transfers 
must be disabled, by setting the 
"STARPU_DISABLE_ASYNCHRONOUS_OPENCL_COPY" to 1.

It seems like this cannot work with free drivers though, so we had to 
use the non-free drivers provided by AMD.
