This would have been my answer too. And it leads me to the following question:

Don't you think that the manual index would be much easier to use if split into 27 pages, instead of one huge page?

Actually, Elvind LM asked for one big page, where he can grep without knowing the package name. Note that for grepping in 27 different pages, we have per-package lists of reference pages, as noted before. From the main table of contents, it's only one click to:

(a) the index
(b) the per-package list of refpages

If you dont know the package name but only the name of the part it's contained in, you need one more click to the per-package refpages.
