qt is just a gui lib, I suggest you use the qt for your rendering work and  use CGAL for internal algorithm, just like Meshlab which uses QT for rendering and uses VCG for mesh representation and operation.

I do not whink so. Since QT4 has lots of changes from QT3, porting an application from QT3 is very difficult. But if some one want to do, read this:
