Hi,
CGAL includes no method to cut meshes with genus > 0 (besides a very simple method provided as example). If you intend to parameterize such meshes, you have to provide a cutting method.
See paragraph "Cutting a Mesh" of CGAL documentation http://www.cgal.org/Manual/3.3/doc_html/cgal_manual/Surface_mesh_parameterization/Chapter_main.html#Section_39.5 and Mesh_cutting_parameterization.cpp example.
Best regards,

i've read some papers on methods of creating cut seams automatically for meshes with genus > 0, but am not sure if CGAL includes any such functionality, or how to use it. any suggestions?
thanks,

I'm trying to see if CGAL's LSCM implementation is able to handle
arbitrary 3d meshes, as it states in the documentation that it only
works on meshes that are "topological discs." Has anyone tried
using the surface mesh parametrization code before?
thanks,
