Just to follow up here,

I managed to write a delegation functor similar to Polyhedron_3_to_Nef_3
that is able to construct a Nef3 polyhedron out of non-manifold polygon
soup. It turned out to be a lot easier than I thought, because the
spheremap does a lot of adjacency housekeeping for me.
