I forgot to mention that the segments form polygons, and so "inside" means
in the inner area of the polygon. I finally did it with the construction of
an arrangement, but I wish there was some better way to extract the actual
inner medial axis.

Could you explain what is the "vertex" you refer to (site or a Voronoi
vertex)? And what do you mean by "inside"?
