Hello,
As a physicist, I have to care about units sometimes. What is customary
is to use "reduced coordinates", dividing all lengths by the "system
length". So, instead of a a x a x a cube, one always deals with a 1x1x1
one, and puts the right units back at the end (this is sometimes tricky,
e.g. for derivatives). Another approach is to reduce coordinates by some
internode spacing (often called "h").
Best,
Daniel
