Charlie, Yes, the demo contains the surface reconstruction example's code, plus code to load a point set without normals and compute them, plus opengl rendering to see the result. The surface reconstruction package produces a polyhedron, whose triangles are guaranteed to be correctly oriented. You may have a bug in your X3D output.
