Hi -- it is because I've already read the above that I started this
thread. My point is that the above documentation only states the
conditions for valid polygons, but does not explicitly warn what would
be the result of using invalid polygons.

As I pointed out earlier, some operations apparently do work correctly
on "invalid" polygons, but it is that there is no guarantee that *all*
operations will work correctly. IMHO it would be useful to warn the
user about that.
