Hi,

I was wondering about the motivation and definition of cgal Euler operators.
The motivation in wiki is clear, preserve the Euler formula:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euler_operator

In CGAL there are two groups:

1. Euler Operators (Combinatorial Modifications): "...modify
consistently...". What do you mean by consistently?

2. Euler Operators Modifying Genus. What's special about this? Why does
split_loop only handles length 3 loops?

The term "Euler Operators" in Polyhedron package is misleading. In fact the motivation is here to define operations allowing to modify a polyhedron. Since the first group does not modify the Euler characteristic of the surface, the term "Euler Operators" was used.

We could perhaps rename the two sections in

1. Modification Operations preserving Euler Characteristic

2. Modification Operations modifying Euler Characteristic

Consistently means we start from a valid Polyhedron and obtain a valid Polyhedron.

Guillaume
