One of the proposed topic is the following:
Effective Parallel Geometric Algorithms.

Given the industry trend that all computers now support some parallel 
processing units, we would like to explore the area of parallel 
geometric algorithms in practice, on those platforms. The candidate will 
have to study the practical aspects of parallel geometric algorithms and 
data structures for some fundamental problems. The candidate could 
either focus on some applied problems like mesh generation, or 
alternatively provide a more detailed and insightful study of more basic 
algorithms. Our long term goal would be to provide a parallel mode for 
CGAL (www.cgal.org), automatically benefiting from the parallel
processing units.
