The installation manual is wrong. I forgot to update it the day I updated
http://www.cgal.org/platforms.html

CGAL-3.5 has been tested successfully with g++-4.4, and that compiler is
supported.

Taucs is a different library. It was not created by CGAL developers, but
eventually has been maintained by a CGAL developer, since CGAL-3.2 if I
remember well. What sort of problem do you have with it under Fedora 11?
