See the skin_surface_subdiv_with_normals.cpp example. This does what you want.

Hello,
I am building a skin surface and trying to display it. To do so, I need to
have the normals of the facets (normals that go outside of the "object").
I do not even know if the skin surface does know the inside and the outside
of the shape.
Is it possible to obtain this ?
Thank you for your help.
