Let me try to explain my situation. I have two separate polyhedron_3
surfaces. I would like to join them if they are too close. So I can get a
very good sample set of points lying on each of the surface by creating
finer surfaces using make_surface_function and sampling all of the resulting
points. However I do not have any points in between these two surfaces. I
can get a few points in between as well by doing some geometry operations
and calculations. So, if this is the case, can 3D alpha-shapes package
create a new surface which is like a union of these surfaces and some extra
triangulation in between to join the surfaces. If the situation is not
clear, let me know. I can try to create some figures to explain it better.

You also mentioned that some algorithms are under development. Can you shed
some light on that and if you guys have a tentative date in mind when they
will be released?
