Do you mean you would like a function starpu_mpi_data_is_registered(starpu_data_handle_t) ?

If your application calls starpu_mpi_data_register() then the data given in parameter is registered correctly within StarPU-MPI, the only information that could be missing would be the rank and and the tag.
