I made the mistake of mailing the information below from my main email
account, which Inria doesn't like and which has just been bounced. It
addresses your response.

Further to this, there's a more serious problem. The Python sqlite3
module is "Masked", or not installable without risky hackery, on 64-bit
Gentoo. Not sure what to recommend, though I could arrange for
appropriate dev access to this system if needed for debugging.
