Thanks for your answer Cornelia,

I would like to have additional information 
on how to cast the cgal classes into the 
amira classes. It sounds good that it is possible,
but it is not straight-forward.

Any hints much appreciated

Hi Nikos,

cgal is not yet incorporated in Amira, we are working on it, but only internally with a developer licence.
If you have a developer version of Amira, of course you can download cgal and work with it, but in the end you will always have to cast your cgal classes to the existing Amira classes and vice versa to combine the power of the two. But of course it is possible.
Note, that if you use cgal for free, you have to publish your results (see the licence terms http://www.cgal.org/license.html)
