Dear Sebastian,

As you know, the CGAL project made the choice to move to cmake as
building tool.

We currently do not have enough manpower to maintain two different build
systems, and I think this probably would not be a good idea to maintain 
both. From my personal experience, we have enough user reporting
problems during installation, so officially offering another way to 
install CGAL will just duplicate problems: to me it is better to
support and well document only one build system.
Moreover, the fact that from your side you already report shortcomings,
I am quite sure we would have other from dependencies of CGAL you don't
use (this is the kind of tasks that look simple but consume a lot of
time).
