Ok that makes sense and now I'm trying to build to C:/CGAL-3.9

So now  (without admin privileges stupid mistake):

configure works with default settings and with WITH_examples but still fails with WITH_demos, (see output in my previous email).

It does work when I install CGal in 

C:/Program Files 

instead of 

C:/Program Files (x86)

so you're right about the parentheses - but it happens even with user privileges

As a suggestion maybe you could change the default installation path of the installer as workaround?
