That is a really bad situation. The benefits of that other package have
to really high to outweigh the problems caused by VS2005. Those problems
include that it is close to impossible to help you because no one still
has the software around that is required to reproduce your most of your
problems and no one is likely to back-port fixes to it. If possible, you
should consider contacting the vendor of the software to update their
software.
