I am afraid that there is a mistake in your logic.
No, the fact that the person who is preparing the CGAL package for macport 
has problems with Qt5 does not imply that you cannot use CGAL on your Mac. 

If all CGAL users and developers working on a mac can do it, and if even I 
can, then you can...
