I'm not sure we're looking at the same documentation.
I read the following: http://doc.cgal.org/latest/Surface_mesh_segmentation/index.html#fig__Segmentation_levels

"Figure 60.3 Influence of the number of clusters over the segmentation. The number of clusters are set to 4, 3, and 2 respectively."

The caption says "using 6 clusters".

I read the note, yes, but I'm kind of confused as to why when I try with
0.26 lambda and 2 clusters I don't get the same result seen in the example.
It looks more like the one with 4 clusters even though I set it to 2.

    I got 13 segments.
Did you pay attention to the note here:

I'll try that value and come back with the results.

                 Hi Sebastien,

I tried using a modified demo in order to get the
        segments in
                 different
meshes. I'm having success in getting the segmented
        meshes but
segmentation doesn't seem to change with any of the
        parameters.

Could you specify what value of smoothing lambda you used?

The default in the demo: 0.26

             Sebastien.

I tried using the polyhedron demo on the elephant
        model,
                 selecting 6
clusters and got something that is similar to the
        first
                 image in the
                      documentation. What did you try?

                      Sebastien.

                          Hi,

Lately I've been working with CGAL's mesh
        segmentation
                          functionalities
and I'm having some problems achieving different
                 segmentations
                          through
                          number_of_clusters and smoothing_lambda
        parameters.

I'm using your "elephant.off" mesh as an
        example, and
                 as I try
                          to get
the results you expose in your documentation for
                 Surface Mesh
Segmentation, I'm not able to get the same kind of
                 segmentation.

Even though I change the values of the
        parameters, I
                 still get
                          the same
                          segmentation in every iteration.

Could I get a hint of what I'm doing wrong?

                          Regards,

                          Pablo Sánchez
