Are you suing VC2005 with *service pack 1*? If you have downloaded precompiled
binaries of Boost, they have been compiled with VC2005 SP1, which is binary
incompatible with the old VC2005 without SP1. That may explain why the
examples do not start.

If my hypothesis is right, you need to either:
 - recompile Boost yourself,
 - or upgrade your VC2005 twith SP1.
