Hi, Sebastien,

    Thanks for your reply. It seems like there is already someone working on it and proposing a good enough solution. I thought for a while after I make the problem clear to myself. And my tentative idea is just like their implementation.

    So I am wondering whether there is another project available on http://www.cgal.org/project_ideas.html, such as  "Finalizing a Package for 2D Triangulations on the Sphere", "Reworking Intersection Functions", "Improving Poisson Surface Reconstruction" and "Improving Normal Orientation".

thanks for the interest. We have started implementing an approach that
is using a decomposition of the mesh into connected patches with a
simplification of each patch in parallel + handling of neighboring
regions. If you want to implement another approach you are more than
welcome.
