Dear all,

As I said before, the Coq development team was planning a change of
logo anyway. But changing the logo now seems like a bad idea until the
naming question is settled. So, in order to move forward, I've created
a wiki page to collect alternative naming or pronunciation strategy
ideas:
https://github.com/coq/coq/wiki/Alternative-names

Beware that the mere existence of this page is not a commitment (from
anyone) toward a naming change.

But my idea is that once we have settled on a list of alternatives
(i.e., once the page stops growing), then we could do a community-wide
survey to get everyone's feelings regarding a change and which one in
particular people would like to see happening.
Doing a community-wide survey (inspired by the recent OCaml community
survey) was also something that some of us wanted to do anyway (and it
wouldn't ask only about the naming).

Also, for what it's worth, a parallel discussion about the same topic
has started at
https://coq.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/237655-Miscellaneous/topic/Official.20name.20of.20Coq
