I saw mention of the same error
error: ‘GLUquadricObj’ does not name a type 
in thread Compilation: Missing includes from December 2011

CGAL which I have installed with Ubuntu 12.4 is described as 
Package : libcgal8
and
Installed Version : 3.9-1build1

Is the problem meant to be fixed in this version? If not, should I better
get a newer version straight from CGAL rather than from the canonical repos?
