Thank you for the response. 

Are you saying that you can produce the correct results on a 64-bit system
using the Simple_cartesian kernel?  Because I have another system (64-bit
linux) with 64-bit boost, CGAL, etc. and was not able to obtain the correct
results using the Simple_cartesian kernel.

Using the "Exact_predicates_exact_constructions_kernel" does fix the
problem.
